Building smart cities has become an inevitable trend in cities around the world. In Vietnam, developing smart cities is an important way to effectively take advantage of the opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) and move towards sustainable development.
Based on the Government's policy of building smart cities, many localities in Vietnam have started to build and approve projects and orientations for smart city development, typically: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Binh Duong, Hai Phong...
In recent times, Ho Chi Minh City has focused on building a shared data warehouse and developing an open data ecosystem. Building a Smart City Operations Center; establishing a Center for Socio-Economic Simulation and Forecasting; approving the Project to establish a Joint Stock Company to Operate the City Information Security Center.
Organize the pilot implementation of the Project in District 1 and District 12; issue guidelines for the smart urban implementation model for district departments, branches and sectors as a basis for units to develop implementation plans.
The emergence of smart urban development alliance
Currently, the appearance of smart cities in Vietnam is developing more and more clearly. Vietnam needs to further promote research and application of science and technology.
Local authorities need to have solutions to invest in infrastructure and human resources in a focused direction, not spread out, and gradually build a highly qualified human resource to meet management and development requirements.
Regarding this issue, on February 21, 2023, the Vietnam Smart City Development Alliance (VSCC) chaired the organization of the "Conference on future solutions for smart cities".
The event is a place for units with experience in the field of smart city development to discuss, exchange, and share visions and strategies for building smart cities around the world and applying them to the specific context in Vietnam.
Also at this conference, the Vietnam Smart City Development Alliance held an expansion signing ceremony with Chunghwa Telecom Group.
VSCC is a place for units with experience in the field of smart city development to discuss, exchange, and share visions and strategies for building smart cities.
VSCC was initially established based on the cooperation between the two founders, Fundacion Metropoli and Dien Quang. The aim is to create a centralized hub to help units find solutions to develop comprehensive smart cities in Vietnam.
At the same time, it aims to build a forum that brings together individuals, businesses, and authorities to share solutions and experiences and create opportunities for cooperation, building and developing smart urban projects in the long term.
Speaking at the VSCC expansion signing ceremony, Mr. Ho Quynh Hung – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dien Quang – Representative of VSCC shared: “The Vietnam Smart City Consortium (VSCC) was established to create a centralized hub to help units find solutions to develop smart cities in Vietnam.
